I am currently at a point in my life where I have to face many changes… finishing high school, saying goodbye to my friends, entering a world of self-organization, and more. As these events are happening I have realized that change involves leaving something in the past and embracing something that was in the future but is now the present. One of my most recent changes has been leaving high school. This change involves feeling completely free of tasks and it is great! However what is unusual is not having a scheduled plan for what to do everyday. When I used to go to school, I had my week planned in order to complete all of my school assignments, do exercise, see both of my parents and have spare time to do my hobbies. Now that I left high school, my activities of the week have changed. Another thought about change is that it involves trying something for the first time or having to do something in a new way. I have realized through my own experience that this type of changes require motivation in order to cause/create change. A recent undertaking that I have chosen to do differently is getting dressed. Before I had limited time to choose an outfit so I would dress in neutral colors or all black. Now that I have more time to play with my clothes, I have begun to dress wearing more colors, combining prints, textures, and styles. I am very happy with this change because it has helped me realize that I am the responsible of the evolution of my customs. As I had previously written on the post 'Pomegranate Vibe' we humans do not tend to change our habits. However, when a period in our live ends, it is likely that we begin to do things differently, thus change our customs.

Today I uploaded my first ever Youtube Video!! I wanted to introduce myself to the Youtube Community in the best way possible, so I created a new type of tag video called "The Who Tag". Through a series of four questions, I shared information about me that I though might be interesting to my viewers as well as an explanation of the purpose of my channel. To expand a bit on this ideas, I would like to say that I believe Youtube is a great social platform to share ones thoughts, ideas and life experiences. As I previously said on the "About Me" section and also on the video, I am a young and enthusiastic girl who enjoys to learn and share about fashion, food, and lifestyles. Therefore, the combination of my website and Youtube Channel will be a great social media platform to allow me communicating with you. If you would like to see the video, I have posted it below or you could also click on this link so you can leave a comment, like or subscribe!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpL0xP1dC8Q XOXO, The Parsonian A smile is a gesture from the heart, a caring and inspiring u-shaped rise of the mouth that brings peace to your soul. Creativity may easily be influenced by boundaries. These act as a wall that limit our mind to flow with freedom. A wall can be someone who you admire. As you value their opinion and taste, you will tend to imitate their process to make something. A boundary is set to your creativity as your end product will resemble the mind of others and not your own. A wall can be your level of confidence. Sometimes we fear and care too much about the reaction of people. As this thought acts like a burden to our creativity, we are not able to explore, innovate or confront the freedom within the mind. A wall can be an emotion. We tend to forget that our emotions act as an authority to our mind, a force that has the power to define the state of our mood, thus influence the flexibility of our creative mind. A limit is seen in our emotions when we choose to satisfy others instead of ourselves.
Going over the wall and down to the path of freedom is the reward to those who are not defeated by the boundaries set upon creativity, and choose to diverge. Wonder through a path that is unknown, that evolves and is unique to ones perception of life, as their mind hold the ability to climb through the brick wall. The reason why I've written this post, is because I feel that many of us have walls set to our creativity of a daily basis. To make my self clear, when I say the word 'creativity' I am not only referring to an artist, but to society as a whole. We have all been given a white canvas... Life. Every second, every minute, every hour and every day it is colored by our thoughts, actions, words, emotions, and our decisions. The image on this canvas is reflected in our identity, as it is the most visual and concrete representation of the path we have chosen to take in life. For that reason it is important to allow our creative mind to flow with freedom. Nelson Mandela once said "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul", reminding us that we are the owners of our existence and the commanders of spirit. I find the message of this quote very powerful as it do believe that it is important to cherish the uniqueness of our creativity. XOXO, The Parsonian Humans are creatures of customs, we live life through a structured method that is engrained in our bones. The motion of our feet, the movement of our hands, the tone of our voice, and the stare of our eyes, are all characteristics of our customs. Customs begin to form as we try something for the first time as this experience give us an idea of how our life may be by doing this on a daily basis. As time goes by, the functioning of our customs is something lead by our subconscious.
Black is the color I wear every day, and I sometimes ask myself why. Well I believe that it is due to my customs. Although I don't remember the particular day that I began using black, I know that it is something I do naturally. When getting dressed I will always pick something black or a totally black outfit. Today I visited a friend and she welcomed me by saying "I really like that color on you". However she did not refer to the black, but instead to the pomegranate vibe of my scarf. It was then that I realised that although we don't recognise our customs, other may see what is particular to us. We all enjoy hearing a compliment, a rise of our mood, a pomegranate vibe. XOXO, The Parsonian I have come to the point where I constantly ask myself "is comfort felt when wearing something that is loose on your body or is it felt when you feel confident with what you are wearing?" To begin with comfort is defined as the state of being pleased and in peace with something due to the feeling of satisfation and well being that it offers. Having that said, we can infer that comfort with loose clothes implies physical satisfaction as one may easily move, walk, sit and make any action with no limitations due to the fact that the clothes are big or elastic. Sweatpants, shorts, loose shirts and cozy clothes are those that make us feel the most comfortable. While wearing these clothes we are at a state of relaxation because we are satisfied by the ease in these clothes. Yet comfort due to clothes may also be experienced when one's skin is in greater contact with the surrounding. A great example are our bathing suits. The smooth sand and refreshing water explore our body very well given that bathing suits are designed to allow the most of our bodies to be free. On the contrary, feeling comfort due to confidence involves an emotional satisfaction. This type of comfort is harder to acheive as the majority of the time, we dress up to look well and satisfy the expectations of others rather than our own. Since I am a victim of this chain I developed a four step process to fix it. 1. Pick a color scheme for your outfit. By choosing a color scheme you are forced to stick with the clothes on your closet to create a unique outfit. 2. Determine how you want to see yourself. Picture yourself wearing the combinations that you are building up due to the color scheme step and pick several to try on. 3. Mirror, mirror on the wall. After dreasing up look at yourself in the mirror and ask "do I feel comfortable with myself" looking like this. 4. Fragrance. Spray on some fragrance as it is a smell particular to you and it will remind you that you determine your comfort. The idea of comfort is particular to ones identity. As we are creatures of customs we have to understand that we are who should choose how to dress and how to heigten out comfort through emotions rather than physical or rational thoughts. As I consider this topic may relate to many, I wrote what I thought about it. However I would love if you share with me your my thoughts, so feel free to comment below. XOXO, The Parsonian |
