When accepted to a University or College, an immediate thought you will get is "who will also goes to my university?" This question will appear to your mind as you will want to know who will be your new friends the following years of your life. Luckily there will be a student(s) who had the same question and took the initiative to create a Facebook Group. A social media race begins as your friend request icon will begin to grow every day, with requests from students all around the world. Your notification icon will stack with unread posts in your University's/College's group. And your homepage will be your best source of information regarding payments, updates, and deadlines of your University/College. In my particular case, I am very happy to be part of the Facebook Group for "Parsons Class of 2018" as I am now friends with international students who are as excited as I am to start classes! Based on my experience, I can assure you that most of the questions and doubts that you have, many students will have the same. Also, you will realize that the group of students of your class will probably be bigger than that of your High School, meaning that you will have twice the number of friends. Moreover, this group will be your source of information that will actively remind you of the small or big steps that you have to take before heading of to university.
The only and most important tip that I could give you is to encourage yourself to meet as much students as possible. Chat them up, add them, and tell them about yourself. I am sure they will all like to meet the unique human being that you are and will enjoy the fact that you took the initiative of speaking to them.
XOXO,
The Parsonian
