Between 13 and 14 street with a street view of 5 avenue, one can enjoy food dedicated to 'humans'. You may ask yourself what does 'food for humans mean', well, the answer to this question is found in the philosophy of the owner of Hu Kitchen. Based on the practices of a Western diet and the benefits of pre-industrial food, he has designed a method to serve food that does not need a label or tag to call it 'healthy'. In Hu Kitchen food is not processed as it ingredients are organic, informing the customer there were no pesticides or hormones used for the production of its food (vegetables, fruits, protein, and grains). As you enter the restaurant you see an environment inspired by nature given that the chairs are made of pure wood, the walls are decorated with neutral colors, and food is presented in the most natural way possible. Eating with this surrounding motivates you to wonder around the diverse food options to learn how food can be combined to create enjoyable meals that are highly nutritious for your body.
Among the diverse options of food based on a take-out, one may choose things from the following categories: juices, smoothies, organic coffee & hot drinks, Hu Chocolate, and the Market. When I first visited Hu Kitchen, I was so intrigued by the Bar that served drinks that I could not resist trying one. I tried a smoothie called 'Cool Carrot' made with carrot, banana, mango, fresh lemon and fresh lime and fell in love with it. I then went to the section called the 'Market' and bought a sweet treat called 'Sweet Kale Crunch'. Since I had never eaten dry kale, I wanted to try this new way to prepare kale, and my immediate response was: its amazing.
Luckily, I live very close to this restaurant which allows me to enjoy its food on a daily basis! However I highly encourage you to go. If desired to eat a meal at Hu Kitchen, weekdays it is opened from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm and weekends from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. I personally have eaten at Hu Kitchen one of every meal options (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and have loved the food that I ate. Something that I loved from eating at this restaurant was the fact that I could order small portions of everything so I could try the different food, and not get stuck with a defined meal option that would not allow me to try something. Also, eating at this restaurant is fun because it functions like a cafeteria; you are given a tray to carry your food. I find this method really cool and efficient as one may choose where to sit and eat, as well as meet new people, or have a relaxed meal with a friend.
Well I hope you found this information helpful and that you were inspired to eat like a 'human'.
XOXO,
The Parsonian
